Senior Graphic Designer – Children’s Toys, Stationery and Crafts

We are privately owned, with headquarters near Atlanta, GA, and market an exciting array of branded and licensed products to leading retailers in the US, Canada and Mexico.
The position requires a strong hands-on creative and focused individual who can work as part of a team to produce design work from concept through production. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to collaborate with and take direction from the Creative Director and Product Managers, and will possess effective communication and organizational skills. The ability to manage within tight and sometimes overlapping deadlines, with flexibility and a positive attitude, is crucial.
Responsibilities
Researches product, packaging, design and market trends to produce on trend high impact products and packaging. Prepares layouts, sketches, mock-ups, catalog sheets, and sales presentation/marketing communication materials. Designs and develops product and packaging from concept through production. Communicates clear and accurate production, print and print application instructions to Asian merchandisers and factories. Works with licensors, manages the licensed art approval process, and ensures that product and packaging meet license requirements. Art directs in-house and outside resources such as illustrators, photographers, etc., and attends/participates in photo shoots when necessary.
Qualifications
5-7 years experience in developing fresh and innovative logos, packaging and 2D product graphics
Packaging experience is essential. Toy, stationery, children’s and/or licensed products experience preferred.
Experience with packaging and labeling of toys and children’s products a plus
Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowledge of 4C printing and various print application processes, including special printing techniques. Strong leadership, project management, organizational and time management skills. Can prioritize and handle multiple projects to meet tight deadlines, while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Good oral and written communication skills. Team player. Up to date on current trends. Able to thrive in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment and within the limited resources of a mid-sized growing organization. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
Product Manager – Children’s Toys and Crafts

We are privately owned, with headquarters near Atlanta, GA, and market an exciting array of branded and licensed products to leading retailers in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
We currently are looking for an experienced Product Manager – Children’s Toys and Crafts to help expand our rapidly growing business. The Manager will provide leadership and ownership to oversee and execute the marketing and product development process from strategy and ideation through to product development, specification and costing. The ideal candidate for this position will have children’s product experience, preferably including licensed brands, and the ability to perform at his or her best potential with multiple deadlines and fast paced timetables.
Responsibilities
Defines and drives strategy of the toy and craft lines to achieve successful business growth.
Recommends new ideas, product/line positioning, pricing strategy, and creative strategy, including critique and decision-making on how items should best be decorated, presented, and/or packaged
Performs market analysis when needed
Develops thorough and accurate packaging creative briefs, approves packaging concepts and writes clear, concise impactful copy
Ensures that key product features are promoted on pack
Evaluates the feature/benefit and price/value relationship compared to the competition
Reviews existing product lines for re-fresh opportunities, and looks for ways to improve product performance at retail
Assists Sales to create presentations using mock up samples, prototypes and presentation boards.
Works closely with the product launch teams and the Hong Kong Office, on all aspects of product development and delivery
Conduct daily communications with the Hong Kong office on issues of new product development/sourcing and sampling/prototyping and pricing
Creates product specs to initiate quoting and communicates with the Hong Kong office on product information, requirements, target costs, and retailer-specific vendor requirements
Partners with Product Launch Managers to resolve cost and schedule issues to ensure on-time delivery to customers
Works with Licensors to get creative direction on licensed products, and ensures that products are developed in accordance with the licensor’s most updated direction
Assist in reviewing and commenting on all production approval samples, provides customer-required samples to Sales, and works with the Hong Kong office to correct all issues before items go into production
Plans adherence to all requisite company and customer quality, regulatory, safety and ethical standards
Conducts first line review of all legal and regulatory copy to comply with all licensor, retailer, industry and government requirements
Continually scans the market to research and identify new retail and product trends, and regularly “shops” all applicable sales channels for new products and ideas
Attends all appropriate trade shows to source new items and factories, some domestic and Asian travel required
Qualifications
Four year degree in marketing/business or design/design related field
3 to 5 years experience and a demonstrated track record in marketing and product development of children’s products for mass market retail
Experience developing products in Asia
Strong product vision, with an ability to combine industry knowledge with marketplace and competitive trends to create commercially viable new products
High level of creative intuition and conceptual thinking, with ability to originate concepts, generate ideas, and analyze the market to find opportunities
Independent strategic thinker, capable of self direction, and able to manage multiple projects and overlapping timetables to meet deadlines and complete projects on time
Strong oral and written communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to influence others
Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and regulatory/safety requirements that govern the children’s product industry
Toy, stationery, art and craft and licensing experience desirable
Able to thrive in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment and within the limited resources of a mid-sized growing organization
